The teenager hadn’t said a word since being brought to the medical center set up by the Allies to help Survivors. He had lost his entire family during the war and no one could get him to give them a name and it was only by looking through experimentation records that they finally figured it out. The doctors and nurses that worked there had a feeling that either he could not or simply would not speak and so they did not push the issue, letting him wander around in silence, staring at those around him.
He was sitting in one of the physical therapy rooms when he noticed movement near the open doorway. Looking up, he saw another patient peeking into the room nervously, seemingly too afraid to actually enter the room. The teen frowned to himself as he watched and was about to look away when someone suddenly cursed and threw a peek at the peeking patient, making him yelp and runaway.
Unable to just stay there and be confused about what had just happened; the teenager got up and followed after the patient, blinking when he saw that the frail form had fallen to the ground and curled up into a tight ball, arms thrown up over his head as he rocked back and forth, whimpering to himself.
“We try to keep him away from the others,” a nurse explained, shaking her head as she walked over to kneel beside the rocking young man, trying to calm him down. The teen just stared at the rocking form and the nurse continued, rubbing his back lightly. “We don’t know the whole story of course…you never can in these kinds of situations. All we know for sure is that he was a…uh…a pet…to a high ranking officer and…”
Suddenly the teenager fell to his knees and he threw his arms around the rocking young man, hugging him tightly. The nurse blinked in surprise at the sight but she moved back, giving the two of them some space as she stood up.
Tears filled the teen’s eyes as he held onto the other Survivor tightly and he was soon crying into his shoulder, memories of a dead brother flooding his mind. The other soon started to cry against his neck and the two of them refused to let go of each other until the nurses and doctors finally promised to move them into the same room so that they could stay together and help each other through their emotional scars.

He had been in the middle of reading a new medical journal when the door to his office swung open. Lifting his head up, Abel frowned and cocked an eyebrow as the Sniper Macklin stormed up to him and he opened his mouth to ask him a question when the Australian suddenly took his magazine and threw it over his shoulder, making him let out a squawk of surprise. “HEY!”
“I got somethin’ importan’ ta tell yer an’ I aint in the mood ta figh’ fer yer attention with a bloody book,” Macklin snorted.
Angrily Abel stood up, adjusting his glasses as he stepped out from behind his desk to glare at him. “What are you..?!” He was not able to finish however as Macklin suddenly wrapped his arms around him, hugging the man tightly. “Wa-wa-was?!”
“You kept ma Sugaglida alive when ‘e was goin’ through a ‘ard time after the war…thanks…” Macklin mumbled into his ear before letting him go and Abel blushed, rubbing the back of his head and adjusting his glasses as he suddenly found the ground to be very interesting all of a sudden.
“…We both helped each other,” he offered.
“Aye, well…thanks anyway.”
“You are…welcome,” Abel said with a small nod of his head.
